Title: Tameness and dimension theory in expansions of the real field

Abstract: I will discuss some ongoing work with Philipp Hieronymi regarding the relationship between definability theory of expansions of the real field and dimensions that arise in analysis on metric spaces. In particular, if E is a closed subset of some real euclidean space and E does not define Z over the real field, then the small inductive dimension of E is the same as its Assouad dimension (these notions will be rigorously defined). I will not be able to even come close to giving a proof in this talk, but I do hope to give a complete proof over the course of this academic year.
