Title: Localization of structured ring spectra with respect to Topological Quillen homology
Speaker: Yu Zhang (Ohio State University)
Abstract: Spectra is a main object of study in homotopy theory. Structured ring spectra are spectra with extra algebraic structures such as commutative rings, associative rings, etc. Structured ring spectra behave very similar to topological spaces. Corresponding to singular homology of spaces, we have topological Quillen (TQ) homology for structured ring spectra. A classical method to study topological spaces is localization with respect to homology. In this talk, we will draw the analogy and discuss the corresponding localization for structured ring spectra. We will also explain the key steps for proving the existence of such localization. This is joint work with John E Harper.
