Noncommutative Geometry Seminar - Caterina Consani
Title: Homological algebra in characteristic one
Speaker: Caterina Consani (Johns Hopkins University)
Abstract: The talk overviews some recent developments (in collaboration with A. Connes) of a general theory of homological algebra for (sheaves of) idempotent modules in the topos of sets with an involution. The described prototype is the category of modules over the smallest Boolean semifield: this category is understood as the replacement, in characteristic one (i.e. for tropical algebraic structures), of the category of abelian groups.
