Radical Pi Meeting - Gary Kennedy
Title: What is Tropical Geometry?Speaker: Gary Kennedy (Ohio State University)Abstract: Tropical geometry is a piecewse-linear version of algebraic geometry. The core idea may seem bizarre: in tropical arithmetic use addition in place of multiplication and use the minimum in place of addition. We will apply this to polynomials and then study the resulting geometry.
