TA Professional Development Seminar - Elizabeth Miller
Title: Active Learning in Small Classes
Speakers: Elizabeth Miller (Ohio State University)
Abstract: OSU is a partner in the NSF-funded project “Student Engagement in Mathematics through an Institutional Network for Active Learning (SEMINAL)”. SEMINAL aims to increase active learning in precalculus through calculus 2 courses nationwide. In this presentation, come experience how two of our partner institutions are using active learning in their small (30 student) calculus classes. After you experience these lessons as a student, we will discuss the pros and cons of these methods and how we can apply some of these ideas to recitations in coordinated courses at Ohio State.
