The SIAM Student Chapter at OSU will have their first meeting of the year on September 18th at 5:30 pm in Cockins Hall, room 240. If you wish to join SIAM this semester, you must attend the first meeting and participate in officer nominations and elections. Any interested students should RSVP to Kelsey Boyd. If you are interested in joining but have a time conflict with Thursdays at 5:30 pm, please email Kelsey and she will add you to the contact list for next semester.
What is SIAM and what will this student organization do?
SIAM stands for Society for Industrial and Applied Mathematics. Our main focus, as we are starting the first student chapter of SIAM here at OSU, is on exploring career and educational opportunities that are available for students interested in these fields.
We will have monthly meetings in which students will experience amazing networking opportunities with local and state employers/recruiters, compete in math competitions with other student SIAM chapters around the state/nation, receive opportunities to hear from professors across campus regarding their research, attend on-site visits to companies and manufacturers to see first-hand what possibilities are available to students with a strong math background, participate in resume writing workshops, and more!
