Jack Tyson graduated from Ohio State Undergrad in 2019. He graduated with a major in Actuarial Science and a minor in Computer Science He currently works for Amwins as an Actuary. Previously, he has worked at Milliman Tampa Health and CBIZ Benefits & Insurance. He also interned at Zurich and CBIZ where he ended up full time. How did Ohio State's program stand out to you?

The size of the program. There were many people to work with and learn from/with. 

How would you describe your work in actuarial science, and what excites you about the field?

Explaining complex business concepts to people unfamiliar, the social aspects of communicating technical concepts.

Is there anything about actuarial science that might surprise someone new to the field?

The importance of soft skills and need to develop them.

What advice do you have for current and future students?

Take advantage of all opportunities and experiences, do everything.
