Mathematics Graduate Student Association (MGSA)
Mission Statement
The MGSA is committed to fostering a diverse and inclusive community. We believe that diversity in backgrounds and ideas enhances our collective growth as a department.
We aspire to create a mathematical community where opportunity and inclusion applies to everyone, regardless of race, gender, sexual orientation, national origin, or identity. We will continue to do our best to support all graduate students in the Department of Mathematics, as well as our friends in the LGBTQ+ in Math Alliance and AWM.

Resources for Graduate Students
Ombuds
There is an ombuds for graduate students in the department:
Peer Mentors
MGSA pairs all incoming students who opt-in with older students to aide with their transition to graduate school. If you were not paired with a peer mentor but would like to be, contact us, and we will see what we can do to help!
Anonymous Feedback
Here is a space to submit complaints or feedback to the MGSA leadership, with the option to be anonymous:
You of course are also welcome to contact any of us if you prefer!
Books
Members of the department are welcomed to borrow books from the department "library" in MA 105, but they should be kept in good condition and returned.
Graduating students often leave behind their old books in the mailroom (located in front of the printshop) for others to take.
Seminars
There are many seminars in the department, including several graduate student specific ones. The complete list can be found here: https://math.osu.edu/activities/colloquium, though the list appears to be out of date at the time of this webpage posting.
