Invitations to Mathematics - Janet Best
Title: Mathematics in neuroscienceSpeaker: Janet BestAbstract: Mathematical biology involves deriving research results in both math and biology. Biology has become a rich source for new mathematical questions, much as physics has long driven mathematical developments. Applications should also provide new biological understanding, sometimes resulting in new or modified treatment for medical problems. While I study a variety of neuroscience phenomena, here I will use Parkinson’s disease as a recurrent application, each time appearing with different questions requiring different mathematical approaches and methods.
