Quantum Algebra & Quantum Topology Seminar - Cody Armond
Title: Introduction to Skein Theory and the colored Jones polynomialSpeaker: Cody Armond (The Ohio State University)Abstract: The Jones polynomial is the simplest example of a quantum knot invariant for knots in $S^3$. I will talk about generalizing this invariant to different 3-manifolds via Skein modules and skein algebras. I will also discuss a family of quantum knots invariants called the colored Jones polynomials (the original Jones polynomial being the first of which). This will be an introductory talk.
