TGDA Mini-Course - Amit Patel - Lecture III
Title: Lecture III: Smoothing Operator
Speaker: Amit Patel (Colorado State University)
Abstract: de Silva, Munch, and I introduced a smoothing operator on Reeb graphs that behaves very nicely with respect to the interleaving distance. A Reeb graph can be interpreted as a constructible cosheaf over the real line valued in Set. This smoothing operator relies heavily on the fact that $\mathbb{R}$ is contractible. I will introduce a smoothing operator for (co)sheaves that are constructible with respect to any Thom-Mather stratified space. This construction is key to proving the stability of persistent local systems.
