TGDA Mini-Course - Jose Perea (Lecture 2)

November 19, 2015

Title: TGDA Minicourse, Lecture 2: Spaces of micro-images and an application to texture classification

Speaker: Jose Perea (Michigan State University)

Abstract: One of the most celebrated success stories in topological data analysis is that of the Klein bottle as a model for spaces of relevant patches from natural images. I will show in this lecture how images  can be thought of as random samples on this space, and how to represent them via Fourier Analysis on the Klein bottle.  We'll show how this framework applies to the problem of texture classification.
