Title: The Generic Nature of Morse Functions

SpeakerAlex Wagner (University of Florida)

Abstract: The fact that Morse functions are generic topologically follows from the work of Morse and Cerf. We’ll give an exposition of this work and discuss a notion of almost-everywhere for infinite dimensional spaces. We’ll show that Morse functions satisfy this notion as a subset of smooth functions.
