Title: What is Chaotic Behavior in Iterated Function Systems?Speaker: Josh YeeAbstract: I plan to introduce the notion of an iterated function system and some common terms and techniques used in analyzing them through a worked example of the function $x^2+c$ for certain $c$ values. I'll supply a definition of "chaos" and show how chaotic behavior appears in $x^2+c$. Time permitting, I'd also like to touch on Sarkovskii's ordering of the natural numbers and the construction of the Mandelbrot set from the filled Julia set of $z^2+c$ under iteration.Seminar URL: http://math.osu.edu/whatis
