Homotopy Theory Seminar - Chris Kennedy
Title: Postnikov Towers and Bott ManifoldsSpeaker: Chris Kennedy (Ohio State University)Abstract: Postnikov towers are theoretically useful, but the associated data is often too cumbersome to make calculation practical. We examine a specific scenario where they may prove useful in deciding rigidity questions for some classes of manifolds. The main examples will be Bott manifolds, which arise as the total spaces of certain iterated fiber bundles over a point, and which yield a particularly nice version of J.H.C. Whitehead's "certain exact sequence."Seminar URL: https://people.math.osu.edu/valenzuelavasquez.2/hts/
