Title: Invitation to Mathematical Biology
Speaker: Chuan Xue
Abstract: I will discuss several examples in mathematical biology. The Mathematical tools to solve these problems include stochastic processes, partial differential equations, numerical algebraic geometry, and machine learning. Through these examples, I will illustrate how mathematics can be used in advancing our knowledge in biology.
Note: This is part of the Invitations to Mathematics lecture series given each year in Autumn Semester. Pre-candidacy students can sign up for this lecture series by registering for one or two credit hours of Math 6193, class #9226 (with Prof H. Moscovici).
