After the Recreational Mathematics Seminar on The Mathematics of Origami, Laura Jimenez, PhD student at the University of Kansas, will give a hands-on workshop.

The workshop is free and open to the public. Attendance to the seminar is not required.

She will show how mathematical learning can naturally happen while folding paper, especially when making geometric models, and how origami could become an effective tool for teaching geometry through hands-on, active, and discovery-based activities. In this workshop, you will build a polyhedron.
