Title:  Mathematical modeling of medical treatments for patients

Speaker: Rebecca Everett

Abstract:  Mathematical models are providing insights into disease progression and helping to inform treatment decisions.  The process of modeling is iterative, where both the biological understanding and our mathematical model representing these biological hypotheses are revised and improved based on mathematical results and real world data. Focusing on applications in psychology and cancer biology, I will discuss: the modeling process, our results from developing and analyzing mathematical models, and biological insights gained from mathematical models. This approach is leading towards helping to improve medical treatments for patients.
