The GRE Subject Test in Mathematics is generally required from all applicants to our PhD program in order to assess fluency in basic problem solving skills. Students who believe that they have clearly demonstrated such skills can present pertinent evidence here. This may include seriously evaluated research articles, very advanced course work, or a strong record of participation in other types of mathematics tests and competitions. Also students who are facing exceptional hardship in signing up for the subject test may submit a request for consideration here.
A concise and clear justification addressing the applicant's situation and the admission concerns above should be provided in the form field 'Request Rationale' below.
Although waivers are often granted, past experience shows that admissions committee members, lacking the reassurance of at least a reasonable subject test score, often view applications without such a score as less competitive.
