Welcome to our Autumn 2026 Newsletter! This issue casts spotlights on student achievements, department history, and landmark research presentations.
On the topic of student achievements and applied analytics, this issue spotlights our undergraduate student team, "Nova Analytics," advancing to the semifinal round of the 2026 Society of Actuaries (SOA) Student Research Case Study Challenge, a recap of the data-driven municipal budgeting puzzles tackled during our third annual SIAM-MTI Quantathon, and our recent 2026 Cycle Conference. This issue also includes a celebration of Professor Bishun Pandey's recent transition to retirement after decades of service to the department, and a feature on our Inaugural Rosenblatt Lectures delivered by Moon Duchin.
