Gabriel Conant is an assistant professor of Mathematics at Ohio State. He is an expert in Model Theory, which is a branch of mathematical logic. His research includes exciting interactions of Model Theory with group theory, combinatorics, and topological dynamics.
Dr. Conant grew up in Federal Way, WA, and received an undergraduate degree from Colgate University. He completed his PhD in 2015 from the University of Illinois at Chicago, supervised by David Marker. Following his PhD, he was appointed as a Visiting Assistant Professor at the University of Notre Dame from 2015-2016, and then the Lumpkins Postdoctoral Fellow at Notre Dame from 2016-2019.
After Notre Dame, Dr. Conant held a Research Associate postdoctoral position at the University of Cambridge from 2019-2021. He began his current tenure-track position at Ohio State in 2021, and before that spent semesters at the Institut Henri Poincaré in Paris and at the Fields Institute in Toronto as well.
Dr. Conant is a prolific researcher in Model Theory and has received support from the National Science Foundation and the AMS-Simons Grants for his research.
