Math 1099 & DEV 0194 at CSCC

Math 1099 / DEV 0194 Description

The topics contained in DEV 0114, MATH 1050, MATH 1060 and MATH 1075 will be delivered in a modularized format using technology, allowing students to begin at the appropriate level based on course placement and allowing them to move through as many modules, and courses, as they can within the time limits of the course. This modularized, mastery approach will pre-test, provide a prescriptive study plan, and post-test students from one module to the next. Emphasis will be placed on individualized pace with a greater time period of active learning. At the end of the course, based on proficiency of the series of modules associated with one or more courses, students will earn a grade of "S" for satisfactory progress and gain permission to enter subsequent courses in their plan of study. This course is recommended for students who have an appropriate placement score and have passed High School Algebra II within the last 5 years.

Review the CSCC catalog for current course information.

Successful completion of Math 1099 will be reflected on the student's CSCC transcript. The credit for Math 1099 will appear as two courses,

  1. Math 1099 for 3 hours with a grade of "S"
  2. DEV 0114, Math 1050, Math 1060, or Math 1075 for 0 hours with a grade of "S"

For example, Math 1099 (1050 module) will appear on the CSCC transcript as below:

CSCC Math 1099 Transcript

Math 1099 / DEV 0194 (DEV 0114 Module)

Math 1099 / DEV 0194 (DEV 0114 module) will transfer  to OSU as Math 1040. Students should enroll in Math 1050 at OSU.

Math 1099 / DEV 0194 (1050 Module)

Math 1099 / DEV 0194 (1050 module) will transfer to OSU as Math 1040. Math 1099 is a 3 credit course at CSCC and Math 1050 is a 5 credit course at OSU. The university prohibits awarding a 5 hour credit course (Math 1050) for a 3 credit hour course (Math 1099), thus students will only be awarded 3 credits of Math 1040. The Department of Mathematics will recognize the completion of Math 1050 if a student has earned a grade of "S" in the Math 1050 module of Math 1099.

Students are permitted to enroll in Math 1060 or Math 1075 at OSU after completing Math 1099 (1050 module). Students will need to request permission from the Math Advising Office to enroll in Math 1060 or Math 1075 as Buckeye Link will not automatically recognize this permission.

Math 1099 / DEV 0194 (1060 Module)
