International Day of Mathematics Celebration
On November 26, 2019, the UNESCO proclaimed March 14 as the International Day of Mathematics.
March 14 was already known as Pi Day and celebrated in many countries around the world. It is named after the important number π, the ratio between the circumference and diameter of a circle and approximately 3.14.
The IDM is a worldwide celebration of the beauty and importance of mathematics and its essential role in life.
At OSU, we will have:
A day full of fun games, challenging puzzles, and fascinating crafts. Stop by the Mathematics Tower between 10 am and 5 pm to join the celebration.
A public talk, What is π? by Dr. Bart Snapp. Sullivant Hall 220, 1:50 pm
Extend the invitation to your students (including non-math majors). Everybody can join the celebration!
