Title: From plane curves to modern enumerative geometry
Speaker: Hsian-Hua Tseng
Abstract: We will consider the problem of counting complex curves inside target spaces. We will present some examples of such counting problem. By discussing the solutions of counting problem in these examples, we will illustrate how this counting problem is related to other areas of mathematics. If we have time, we may discuss how to set up this counting problem in general.
