Title: Essential dimension of parabolic bundles

Speaker: Ajneet Dhillon, University of Western Ontario

Abstract: This talk will start with a review and some examples of essential dimension. We will discuss the conjecture of Colliot-Thelene, Karpenko and Merkurjev on the essential dimension of gerbes. The talk will end with a discussion of some recent results with Dinesh Valluri on the essential dimension of parabolic bundles over a smooth projective curve.
