LGBTQ+ in Math Alliance Talk - Sam Hansen
Sam HansenIMSI (Institute for Mathematical and Statistical Innovation)TitleRepresentation Theory: Making Space for All in the Story of MathematicsAbstractIf you do not see, you can not be it. This saying has been around for so long that it almost feel rote, but it was the truth behind this saying that pushed Sam Hansen onto the mathematical communication path, and it is truth that means that now, more than ever, it is vital for mathematicians to make sure people are able to see themselves within mathematics. In this talk Sam will combine personal anecdote with existing results about mathematical belonging and identity to emphasize the importance of representation within the mathematical sciences and discuss the ways that storytelling and communication offer mathematics a path to achieve this representation

Representation Theory: Making Space for All in the Story of Mathematics
Abstract
If you do not see, you can not be it.
