Title
Asymptotic stability of symmetric flows with viscous inflow boundary condition
Abstract
At high Reynolds number, stability of steady state for the Navier-Stokes equation has been one of the central topics in fluid dynamics. In this talk, I will present a new energy argument to analyze the linear and nonlinear stability of symmetric flows in a 2D non-periodic channel. One of the key ingredients is a new positivity estimate using a quantity "Rayleigh vorticity". This is based on joint work with Yan Guo (Brown).
