Title: What is the Ricci Flow?
Speaker: Gabriel Khan
Abstract: Since the turn of the 21st century, the Ricci flow has emerged as one of the most important geometric processes. It has been used to prove several major theorems in differential geometry and topology. In this talk we will try to provide a picture and intuition about what it is and how it behaves. Intuitively one should think of the Ricci flow as being a "heat equation for curvature" and we will try to explain what that means.
