Application Fee Waiver Request

Indicates required field

The Department of Mathematics encourages students who have financial needs to apply to have their application fee waived. Unfortunately, the department has limited funds and can only waive the fee for a select group of applicants to our PhD program. Students with financial needs should submit the form below prior to submitting their graduate application and paying the application fee (application fees are non-refundable once they are paid). This form needs to be received by the department no later than November 30, 2024 for full consideration.

Generally, only US citizens or US permanent residents applying to our doctoral program are considered eligible, however, international or asylee/refugee students with financial needs are considered only in rare circumstances and assuming sufficient funds.

We especially encourage students from underrepresented groups and women/womxn to submit a fee waiver request.

The department plans to make fee waiver decisions in the days immediately following the deadline. Students will be informed via email about the decision approximately a week before our graduate program application deadline on December 5 with further instructions for submitting their graduate application. Note that students for whom we cannot grant a fee waiver may still be very competitive and are certainly encouraged to still submit an application if they can afford the fee. Also, interested students may apply for other fee waivers through the University. Information about these fee waivers can be found on the Graduate Admissions website. Students may apply for the Math Department fee waiver as well as the other fee waivers offered by the University.
