Professor Emeritus Dan Burghelea, a mathematician known for his work in topology, has been elected an Honorary Member of the Romanian Academy.

The General Assembly of the Romanian Academy elected Burghelea as an honorary member from abroad in the Section of Mathematical Sciences on October 14, 2026. He was among seven new honorary members elected by secret ballot.
