Sherry Chan named to 2020 Power of Diversity: Asian 100 List

City & State NY has named Sherry Chan ’01, ’12 MBA to its list of the most influential Asian Americans in New York politics and policy. Chan is just the fifth chief actuary in New York City’s history — and the first Asian American to fill the position. She is responsible for managing the 10 percent of the multibillion-dollar city budget that relates to annual pensions for nearly 800,000 workers, including police officers, firefighters and educators.

Chan is a generous supporter of the college, volunteers her time and expertise as a member of the Dean’s Advisory Committee and is a former member of the Mathematics Advisory Board. In late 2019, Chan created an endowed scholarship in the college that will provide scholarship support to students studying actuarial science.
