Zhi Qi awarded Presidential Fellowship
Zhi Qi, a graduate student here at the Math Department has been awarded a Presidential Fellowship by The Ohio State University Graduate School. This fellowship recognizes outstanding scholarship and research ability and provides recipients the opportunity to devote full time to their dissertation research.
Zhi joined our department in 2010 after completing his masters degree at Peking University. His master thesis there already resulted in publications on representation theoretic problems related to number theory. During his time at Ohio State Zhi has been working with Professor Holowinsky on problems in analytic number theory and has produced results on higher rank Bessel functions that have since received significant international recognition.
The Graduate School awards only about 15 Presidential Fellowships each semester to the most exceptional doctoral students in the entire university.
Please join me in congratulating Zhi Qi and his advisor, Professor Holowinsky, on this outstanding honor and achievement.
