Our departmental teaching awards were awarded to their recipients at this year's Graduate Recognition Ceremony. The department gives out two types of awards. The Phil Huneke Excellence in Teaching Award and the Distinguished First Year GTA Award.
The Phil Huneke Excellence in Teaching Award is open to all math graduate students that are not in their first year of teaching. The award also comes with a prize of $800. This past year, the department restructured the selection process, so that classroom visits would occur in the fall. This change allows for more GTAs to be eligible for the award due to the greater need for instructors in the fall semester.
