Title: Yangians And R-Matrices

Abstract: Yangians form an important family of quantum groups, defined by Drinfeld in the 1980’s, in order to uniformly construct rational solutions to the famous Yang–Baxter equation. Ever since, these quantum groups have found applications in gauge theories, geometry of Nakajima quiver varieties, combinatorics of shuffle algebras, cohomological Hall algebras and representation theory.

In my talk, I will introduce the Yang–Baxter equation, and explain how the representation theory of Yangians gives rise to its (rational) solutions. Time permitting, I will present a generalization of Drinfeld’s Yangian appearing in a recent work of Diaconescu, Porta, Sala, Schiffmann and Vasserot, and a few related open problems.
